Scholarships From Stormzy For Black Undergraduates At Cambridge University In 2024

 A total of 81 Stormzy Scholarships will be given to Black students throughout the course of the next three years (2018–26), an increase of 36.

The "Stormy Effect" is still present: 141 Black students from the UK will be admitted in 2022, a 131% increase from 2018.

32 UK Black students have received financial aid through the Stormzy Scholarship since it was established in 2018, helping to change how they experience college. Before the program was expanded in 2021, it initially started with just two students per year. At least 10 Black students beginning their studies in the autumn of 2023 will receive scholarships from Stormzy's #Merky Foundation in collaboration with HSBC UK.

Over 400 UK Black students have arrived at Cambridge in the previous three years to begin their studies.

To ensure that UK Black students not only apply to study at the University but also feel at home and reach their full potential, additional work needs to be done.

The Purpose and Advantages of Stormzy Scholarships at Cambridge University

Since the scholarships are non-repayable and come with a maintenance grant, beneficiaries will be much less likely to need to take out loans from the government or from private lenders. The beneficiaries will have access to this funding during the final three or four years of their undergraduate program. The total prize given to each student for the academic year of 2023–24 will be worth £20,000. Receiving this award won't change a person's ability to get a Cambridge Bursary.

Requirements for Stormzy Scholarships at Cambridge University Qualification

Those who wish to apply for a Stormzy Scholarship must:

possess one of the following racial or ethnic groups:

a black African

African Caribbean

Caribbean White and Black Other Mixed

White and Black Africans who are mixed

Other people of mixed heritage, such as Black African, Black Caribbean, or Black Others

have a confirmed spot for a first undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge, and are scheduled to start studying there in October 2023. (UCAS Hub allows you to check the status of your offer.)

have submitted an application to Student Finance (England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland) for a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan, and have heard back from them to say they have evaluated your application and will provide you with funding. It must have been agreed to undertake an income assessment and communicate the results with the university. Please take note that although you will be able to pay off all of your debt if you are given a Stormzy Scholarship, you will still require an income assessment from Student Finance in order to qualify for the Cambridge Bursary.
